- In news that obviously came in too late for the local newspaper’s deadline (which I am assuming is about 3pm the day before publishing)… the bankruptcy judge in the Del Biaggio case approved the sale of Boots’ shares to the current owners of the Nashville Predators. Assuming all the approvals come in by the August 12th closing date, the team will be 100% locally owned.
- The rumors about the Preds potential acquisition of Patrick O’Sullivan may have some legs to them, I half-expected a typical late Friday afternoon signing announcement, but none came.
- John Madden to the Wild is a great pickup for Minnesota.
- Martin Gerber to the Oilers… Are they wondering if the ‘Bulin Wall will be available?
- Chris Chelios has finally retired and will join the Red Wings front office. Pred Nation will need to find another whipping boy… :-)
- Pred prospect Zach Budish was the lone goal scorer for the US in yesterday’s 4-1 loss to Sweden in the WJC camp.
- The other names being thrown around in Pred Nation are Jose Theodore as a backup to Rinne (not likely IMHO) and Tim Kennedy… both interesting names, Kennedy being another Buffalo walk away. Honestly, I’d be surprised if the Predators make any more free agent moves.
