Danny Briere will come into training camp at the same weight he departed after last spring's playoffs - 170 pounds.
It's the lightest he will be in several years coming to camp.
He says he feels lighter and quicker on the ice at that weight and played much of the season at it. Ironically, he admits that personal issues off the ice was the catalyst for him losing weight. He wasn't eating. And as he dropped weight, he began to see a positive difference on the ice.
Peter Laviolette told me last week (again) that the only line that remains intact to open camp will be Briere's with Scott Hartnell and Ville Leino. And why now? It was the most effective during the playoffs.
