Chris Pronger went on the ice for the first time since his rehab began and told me after the brief stint, he felt "okay."
"At least I didn't fall," Pronger said.
He's wearing a brace and I suspect the new one will be with him for much of the season ...

I wanted to see the rookies today on the other sheet of ice, but with Pronger on the first sheet and Nikolai Zherdev also here on that side, I spent the time there.
Alas, after waiting around for Zherdev - by then there were several reporters _ he declined to do any interviews without a translator. He has been in the NHL five years and I know he speaks English, so this was a genuine surprise to me.
His translator came too late (Zherdev gone), but explained that Zherdev is uncomfortable with his English, having been away from North America for a year. One Flyer veteran said he had trouble understanding Zherdev.
Zherdev understands English because I said several things to him and he answered. He may be having trouble expressing himself in English right now. I know the Flyers are giving him lessons as a refresher course.
By the time I got back upstairs to observe, the rookies were long gone ... futile day to say the least but newsworthy with Pronger, nonetheless.

Team captain Mike Richards here, did some testing, then gone. Didn't get a chance to catch up with him, either.
