I didn't think for a moment that Ian Laperriere would play again this season.
When he said last week he has had post-concussion symptoms since last May, I knew it was over.
Now, today, on the eve of the FLyers' opener in PGH tomorrow, Laperriere says he may have to retire. His brain injury and eye injury are that bad.
This is why you wish all players would wear a shield in the NHL. Guys from Lappy's era didn't believe in shields. Manhood and all that. Now, you ask him and he regrets not doing it.
Lappy's loss on the PK could be very significant b/c of the chemistry he had with Blair Betts. The Flyers PK units were sterling all last season.
Coach Peter Laviolette said a lot of things on this club are still "a work in progress" and this is one of them.
