Flyers Need to Stop Sticking It to People |

One thing to start watching tonight in Carolina and for then next several games is whether the Flyers take to heart some talks with their players about stick infractions.
I wrote on CSNPhilly.com this afternoon after the Flyers leading the NHL with 48 stick infractions. Jeff Carter is the No. 1 culprit with 8. Danny Briere has 6.
Briere told me that he feels he needs to use his stick every now and then to keep opposing players honest because he gets taken advantage of on the ice as a small player.
GM Paul Holmgren talked to Briere and mentioned he was surprised as his rap sheet from Buffalo. Holmgren said he understood the need for a player to get his space but, he told Briere, "find another way to do it" because the NHL is going to be watching him carefully.
Here's a thought. Instead of using a high-stick the next time, use the glove to the forehead. Sends the same message but it's not a stick infraction and you might not even get a call on the ice.
