UPDATE: NHL Grants Leighton Extension |
|
|
|
NHL gave the Flyers 2 more minor league games for Leighton to rehab ...
***
This off of Paul Holmgren's conference call:
Michael Leighton will remain on LTIR while the Flyers seek a way to get him more games. Holmgren indicated that Leighton is far from being ready to be activated. They are asking for a conditioning assignment extension, per the CBA.
Leighton didn't fare well in two weekend game with the Phantoms with a 3.55 goals against average and .875 save percentage in 118 minutes.
This actually benefits the Flyers. They don't have to make a roster move right now and can delay it a while longer as Leighton gets back to form.
No one ever said recovering from back surgery was easy. This doesn't surprise me in the least and should not surprise anyone else, either.
Fortunately, the FLyers are in good shape right now in goal with two healthy goalies in Sergei Bobrovsky and Brian Boucher.
I will have more on this w/quotes on CSNPhilly.com later ...
