The Flyers solved their cap problems today on the reactivation (on TUE) of Michael Leighton by placing Ian Laperriere on long-term injury.

I suspect that Matt Walker, contrary to some reports, is legitimately injured in his hip and will be go back on IR in the days ahead, as GM Paul Holmgren said today.

Bottom line is, the Flyers will go w/3 goalies - just like last season _ for the short term.

The difference w/Lappy vs. Leighton is that Laperriere is not expected to play this year. If the Flyers leave Lappy on LTIR, it shortchanges them come trade deadline. Leighton they figured would return at some point.

On the other hand, it's beginning to look as though Walker won't ever play, either. So, someone had to go LTIR, anyway.

Jody Shelley got a 2-game suspension for his hit from behind on Boston's Adam McQuaid from SAT's game in Beantown.

No real surprise.

He'll miss TUE's game vs Pittsburgh and WED's game in Montreal.
