Danny Briere was fined $1,000 for throwing a punch at the Rangers' Brandon Prust.

I confirmed the report on Philly Sports Daily ...

What I can figure out is ... Briere's punch never landed. Scott Hartnell's punch did. Hartnell did not get fined.

If the fine was because of the "intent" then why not also fine Hartnell?

Anyone out there think the NHL has an axe to grind w/Briere besides me?

I am reporting on CSNPhilly.com that Coley Campbell's office called the Flyers today to discuss the punches throw by Scott Hartnell and Danny Briere at Brandon Prust.

This came at the end of the game after Prust's questionable hit on Kimmo Timonen. As Prust skated toward his bench, Hartnell threw a punch that appeared to connect and Briere threw one that missed.

Neither player had a hearing w/Campbell today which I suspect means that fines COULD be coming but not suspensions.

As of now, no news from the Flyers ...

Sources tell me that Chris Pronger, practicing with the team again, will NOT play on TUE against the Washington Capitals ...

The earliest we see him is THUR vs OTT or SAT against NJ ...
