Coming off their workmanline 3-1 win on Saturday against Dallas, the Flyers are now two days into yet another significant schedule break that will take them into Thursday's game against Carolina at the Wells Fargo Center. Following that, the team will embark on a grueling stretch of five games in eight days.

Apart from the team's inability to score on the power play against a Stars team that has struggled mightily to kill penalties on the road, there was a lot to like about the way the Flyers executed against Dallas:

* They established a high tempo early in the game against a good team that has been scuffling for wins of late.

* Brian Boucher was extremely sharp in goal.

* The Blair Betts line in particular was outstanding against the previously red-hot top Dallas line.

* Fourth liner Darroll Powe scored a shorthanded goal and the penalty kill as a whole was outstanding.

* The top three lines all created scoring chances at various junctures of the game, and wore down the Stars by the third period. Ville Leino set up Andrej Meszaros and there was a moving screen set up in front on the Flyers' first goal. Jeff Carter gave the team some insurance in the third period.

Now the Flyers have to conquer a challenge that has proven elusive a couple times this season: Come out strong in the first game back after a significant stretch of days without a game.
