UPDATE... To welcome Mike Fisher to Nashville, Saturday's game will feature an upper bowl tickets for $12 or a pair of lower bowl seats for $112... call (615) 770-7825 to get this special deal... get 'em while they last.
------------------------------
Long rumored... finally happened.
The just announced trade between Ottawa and Nashville has been something discussed for quite awhile, with rumors first breaking after the Senators visited Music City right before Christmas. The deal is Nashville's 2011 #1 and a conditional 2012 #2 (the conditions are based on playoff performance) for Ottawa center and fan favorite, Mike Fisher. The destination only makes sense, given his marriage to country superstar Carrie Underwood.
Fisher should fit right into the Barry Trotz way of doing things. Defensively responsible and able to chip in offensively, averaging a bit over 20 goals a year since the lockout. Our SlapShot Radio webmaster (and latest addition to the Preds blogosphere) put it very well on Twitter, describing Fisher as "Legwand 2.0, much more consistent offensively."
The thing that I wonder right now, is if this deal is sending a signal that Matthew Lombardi is about to be shut down for the season. Josh Cooper noted in today's paper that a decision is close.
UPDATE: It's now confirmed... Fisher is scheduled to practice with the team tomorrow and will play Saturday.
