Mini-Preview 11:15 AM EST
With just two points separating the two clubs in the race for the top spot in the Eastern Conference, the Philadelphia Flyers (44-19-8) will take on the Washington Capitals (42-21-10) at the Wells Fargo Center tonight. This is the fourth and final regular season meeting between the clubs this year. All three previous games have gone to overtime and one was decided by shootout. Washington won the first game, the Flyers have won the last two.
The Capitals, who are 9-1-0 in their last 10 games, have been the best team in the NHL in March. Although the club will be without Alex Ovechkin (undisclosed injury) for this game, the Capitals are still plenty dangerous. Mike Green (concussion) is eligible to be cleared today, but did not practice yesterday and has yet to practice since sustaining the concussion on Feb. 25. Therefore, it seems unlikely that he'd be ready to play tonight. Meanwhile, Tom Poti (groin pull) and Jason Arnott (undisclosed) are out. Eric Fehr (upper body) is questionable.
For the Flyers, Chris Pronger (hand surgery) and Jody Shelley (fractured orbital bone) are out. Coming off an excellent game in Dallas, Sergei Bobrovsky will get the start in goal tonight. With Erik Gustafsson sent back to the Phantoms, Nick Boynton is likely to be back in the lineup tonight. The rest of the lineup personnel and combinations are likely to be unchanged, with Andreas Nodl and Dan Carcillo dressed and Nikolay Zherdev a healthy scratch.
