Do the Flyers Inspire Confidence? |

What's wrong with these Flyers?
How do you play with so much energy against Washington and have so little against Pittsburgh, which is right on your heels in the Atlantic Division?
“I can’t give you an answer why we weren’t sharp,” Peter Laviolette said after Thursday's 2-1 shootout loss to the Penguins.
There is always irony with the FLyers and in this case, it's that Sergei Bobrovsky, who was personally responsible for the disaster against the Caps, actually gave the Flyers a point in the standings they did not deserve.
Everyone in Flyerdom was breathing a sigh of relief that BOB hasn't "lost it" as we feared might have happened this week.
Yet the inconsistencies with this club so close to the playoffs are five-alarms for me. I don;t like how this team is headed into the playoffs. When Kimmo Timonen flat out says he has serious concerns about the state of this club, it's bad.
And Chris Pronger ain't around to grouse at people in the dressing room right now.
And this morning here at Skate Zone, Lavy cancelled practice.
Check out the full Kimmo interview from last night:
Q: Kimmo, Andrej Meszaros and Braydon Coburn said they were embarrassed by the performance tonight. They didn’t think you guys really brought it at all.
“No, they put it right. We are lucky to get one point out of this. Sometimes I feel like we play a good game but we can’t bounce back and that’s a big worry for me because in the playoffs, you play one game and you have to put that behind and focus on the next game. Every game is a different game. It doesn’t matter if you play really well the game before but then you have to put that behind and focus on a new game. It looked like today we were unable to do that. Today we thought we could skate through and it would be an easy game but there is no easy game in this league. They outworked us and won all the one-on-one battles. If you don’t work, you’re in trouble.”
Q: There is only so much a coach can say about that. Is that where the players just need to not say it but do it?
“Well it’s an individual thing. It doesn’t matter if you yell or whatever you do. If you’re not ready to play when you come to the rink, it’s not good and it looked like we weren’t ready to play tonight and that was the result.”
Q: Kimmo, did you feel like the team was playing not to lose instead of to win?
“I don’t think so. It was just a bad effort. I don’t know if you call that not to lose but it wasn’t a great effort at all. Like I said, we are lucky to get one point out of this. To be honest with you, we need to get back to work tomorrow.”
Q: What did you think of Bobrovsky tonight?
“Bob was great. He got us a point.”
Q: How tough is it for you frustrating wise as far as not being able to put together back to back performances?
“Yeah it’s frustrating, especially the way we played against Washington. We were all one team and I was hoping we were going to play the same tonight and get two points and not give them any points and that was not the case. I am a little worried about the game and how we played because it’s a big game and if you can’t get fired up for these games, it’s a problem. Like I said, we need to get back to work tomorrow and see the tape and make sure we are ready to go Saturday.”
