Who's My Goalie?

Sometimes it's hard to get a perfect read on what direction Flyers coach Peter Laviolette is leaning with his goales. Most times, it's easy to figure simply by looking at opponents.

If I'm Lavy, I'm worried at how strong Sergei Bobrovsky looked in Game 1 against Buffalo and how utterly awful he was in Game 2 on simple things like closing the 5-hole, covering up the post, not over-reacting to the rush.

Lavy stressed 3-4 times since Saturday at how "calm" and "controlled" Brian Boucher was in releif and how he brought "order" onto the ice where there was chaos. And the chaos, Lavy said, was b/c of all the energy in the building.

Well, I've been to Buffalo enough times to know that there will be a ton of similar energy and chaos tonight when Game 3 unfolds at HSBC Arena.

Which is why I am thinking Lavy is going to go with Boucher to start this game. A calming effect immediately. At the same tme, if it were me, I would go back to BOB because if the Fleyrs don't, I feel they lose him for the series.

Bobrovsky has had a proven record this season of good bounce back games. At the same time, given Lavy's foul mood lately, I think he is clearly unhappy with the first, two games overall and may feel he needs to put the odds in his favor go with the proven veteran, Boucher.

One of the great things - or not so great, depending on your viewpoint - is how often goaltending becomes an issue with this team in post-season, whether it's 1998 or 2011.

Different team, same argument.

Here's what Sergei Bobrovsky and Brian Boucher told me on CSNPhilly.com:
