I know there is a significant amount of anti-Carter, anti-Richards sentiments out there on the Flyers this year - and most years.
But I have to say, I admire what Jeff Carter tried to do last night on one leg. Yeah, he floated and only made rushes into the offensive zone but that was all coach Peter Laviolette was asking - offense.
The Flyers have no offense in this series and one or two goals a night ain't gonna get it done. Carter had five shots and by my count 3 scoring chances.
That 5-1 score could have been worse, too.
So much has gone wrong in this series and it's not all the goaltending. Brian Boucher can't be faulted for the Chara goal but the next two were pretty bad.
I think the organization now realizes that given the age of this team with guy veterans such as Chris Pronger and Kimmo Timonen getting up there, they will have to get a bonafide stopper next year because the Flyers window of opportunity was wide open last year, and it's more than halfway shut now.
They will need someone established in net next season while Sergei Bobrovsky and their other young goalies develop.
Let's give some credit here for David Krejci and his 8 points in the series. His line has dominated the FLyers much the way Danny Briere's line dominated Buffalo in the last series and dominated the playoffs a year ago.
I also feel that the 197 games this team has played siince last season has caught up to them along with the rigorous February training regime that Peter Laviolette implemented, then realized was a mistake and tried to back off from. That took something out of their legs they have not gotten back.
We're all talking like this series is over at 0-3. You can believe in comebacks like last year but these Bruins aren't last year's Bruins. There's no full comeback here, although I still suspect the Flyers will get this series back to Philly for Mother's Day.
Some great quotes from guys like Sean O'Donnell, Briere and Kimmo Timonen last night after the game, too.
