The 64 Million Dollar Question |
The Flyers see the reports of the $64 million salary cap as an additional boon to them, since it means about $5 million more in salary they can add and they are faced with having to lose at least $5 million to sign Ilya Bryzgalov.
And also re-sign some of their other players.
Another point to consider is that with the base floor going to $48 million, other clubs that are well under the salary cap will have to add salary now. That would help the Flyers if they wanted to deal a player to those teams.
A lot is expected to happen this week at the NHL Draft. Again though, the Flyers can't announce a Bryzgalov signing under the tagging rules for next season. They don't have enough cap space.
They now know if they move $3 million to $4 million they should be fine.
