Forsberg Will Play; Update on Hitchcock |

ANAHEIM _ Peter Forsberg plays tonight against the Ducks with a new orthodic wedge that he hopes will prevent his foot from "rolling out."
“It’s one practice, so it’s hard to say,” Forsberg replied, when asked whether the wedge was working. “I like to play a game. I’m hopeful for the first time in a long time. But it’s been frustrating.”
I saw the wedge. It resembles a quadruple-thick Dr. Scholls foot insert, running the length of his foot with extra prodection around the ball of the ankle.
Forsberg said his foot rolled out a few games ago, slightly spraining his right ankle.
I asked Forsberg about these rumors he was going to retire because of this injury and he denied even thinking such. For now.
“I don’t know where [that] was coming from,” he said. “But it has been frustrating not being able to play 100 percent. I was not really thinking about quitting, but if it had gotten worse, I don’t think I would have had a choice. Now we know what the problem is and maybe we can correct it. I am really hopeful.”

Doug MacLean, the GM of Columbus, called Ken Hitchcock today and asked him to interview for the head coaching job. MacLean said he would get back to Hitchcock with a date later. Hitchcock seems excited about getting a job feeler again.
"It's an attractive job," Hitch told me.
