Before I get to some random notes, I’d like to start a discussion in the thread. There has been a lot of discussion in Pred Nation since the Weber arbitration award, but one point I’ve seen made has me wondering…

How much is too much?

The discussion has been centered on Weber’s contract, but if you extend that to include Ryan Suter and Pekka Rinne, it begs the question…

How much is too much for these three players?

If you consider that Weber won’t make less than $7.5 million in a new contract, and you also consider that Ryan Suter will probably demand the same, and you consider that Pekka Riinne will be due a significant raise as well… should the Predators invest over $20 million a year in just three players?

I’m looking forward to the discussion in the thread…

Some weekend random notes…

- Preds prospect Austin Watson is off to a solid start at the USA Hockey National Junior Evaluation Camp, scoring two goals for Team Blue. Chase Balisy also potted two for Team White in the first scrimmage of the camp.

- What’s up with the Sharks and the Wild? they made their third trade since the end of the season. TSN is reporting that the Sharks sent their third round pick in 2013 to Minnesota for RFA James Sheppard.

- Sean Avery arrested… hmmm… imagine my surprise.
