It looks like there is another suitor for the Phoenix Coyotes, one with NHL ties and experience, the former President and CEO of the San Jose Sharks Greg Jamison. The twist here is that Jamison wants to buy the team without having any municipal bonds issued. If he can indeed do that, it would keep a lot of outside parties out of the deal, especially the Goldwater Institute.

God only knows what will happen here. Let’s hope this situation gets taken care of soon because no one will emotionally invest in this team until the fanbase knows it is secure for at least a few seasons. It is my belief that this franchise can survive with decent ownership... something it hasn’t had for years.

There is a typically snarky… and very funny post by Ryan Lambert on Puck Daddy regarding this… it’s hard to disagree with his sentiment.

Random Notes

- Game one of the Western Conference Semi-Finals between the Predators and Canucks is replayed tonight on NHL Network. Starts at 5pm central and is shown a second time at 9pm.

- Former Nashville Predators enforcer and radio color man Wade Belak is a contestant on Battle of the Blades this upcoming season… I have to find a Canadian satellite dish… this is going to be good!

- Ek is reporting the rumor of the Predators being interested in Semin, it would certainly be a great add for Nashville and a new start that this gifted player could use. Now, it all depends on what Washington would want in return…

- The Business Journal Report on market viability has tongues wagging all over the place. To me, this article is no better that Forbes’ fantasy reports on franchise value. It’s all based on guesses… and not very good ones at that.

- Lots of chatter about the “shallow net” concept being tested in pre-season this year… why not? The nets were tested at the RDO Camp and Brendan Shanahan is really pushing for this next step.

- 24 days till training camp opens.
