Over at Broad Street Hockey, there is a nicely done color-coded training camp roster showing which players at camp are 100 percent locks (barring injury) to make the opening-night roster, which ones are competing for jobs, which ones are currently slated to begin the season in the minors, junior hockey or elsewhere and which ones are non-roster invitees (such as Michael Nylander).

My only disagreement with their roster breakdown is that I think Erik Gustafsson should have been grouped among the players competing for an opening-night NHL spot rather than among the probable minor leaguers. Until such a point that the Flyers get under the contract maximum and sign Sean Couturier to an entry-level contract, he is rightfully listed among the players slated for junior hockey rather than among the players competing for a roster spot.

Some other roster notes:

* As reported extensively yesterday, Chris Pronger skated for the first time yesterday. However, he is still not on a specific timetable to practice with the team. He's unlikely to see much, if any, preseason action.

* The Flyers list Joonas Lehtivuori on the preseason roster, but he will not be at camp. He has signed for the season with Modo in the Swedish Elite League (where he will be teammates with ex-Flyers defenseman Freddy Myer and coached by Ulf Samuelsson). The Swedish regular season starts on Sept. 15. However, Lehtivuori is still under Flyers contract, entering the third and final year of his entry-level deal.

* Blake Kessel, originally drafted by New York Islanders in the 6th round of the 2007 Entry Draft but never signed, has been added to the invitee list according to the roster released yesterday by the Flyers. The brother of Toronto Maple Leafs' star, Phil Kessel, has spent the last three seasons with the University of New Hampshire before announcing last spring that he was turning professional. His best collegiate season came in 2009-10, when he posted 10 goals and 38 points in 38 games. The 22-year-old is a player who could make the Phantoms if signed to a contract. He has the type of size (6-foot-2, 210 pounds) that the Flyers like, and is a righthanded shooter. He will wear number 78 at camp.

* 2011 draftee Petr Placek will not be at camp, nor is he listed. He is a freshman in his first semester at Harvard University.

* Undrafted Lethbridge Hurricanes left winger Austin Fyten has been added to invitee list along with Belleville Bulls defenseman Simon Gronvaldt (whom I mentioned the other day). Last season, the 20-year-old Fyten posted 24 goals, 54 points and 103 penalty minutes in 52 games for Lethbridge; his third full WHL season. Fyten will wear number 74 at training camp, Gronvaldt will be number 76.
