After more or less throwing his defense under the Zamboni on Saturday night about "communication" issues, goalie Ilya Bryzgalov, who did not start MON vs. Toronto, got to work on commands today.
Bryz spent 15 minutes before anyone else got on the ice working with goalie coach Jeff Reese on commands.
You know, the commands he told the media he wanted to hear from now on in net:
Play it, Leave it, Over.
Coincidentally (I don't buy it), Sergei Bobrovsky was in net vs the Leafs.
Bryz wanted work on commands and he got it. Except the commands were coming from the goalie coach and not Braydon Coburn, or Chris Pronger, or Andrej Meszaros, etc.
So my question to Peter Laviolette tonight was, does this mean the issue is done with? Does Bryz need more time?
“Just because we go over things once in practice, that’s not the end all," Laviolette said, adding he could NOT guarantee this issue is solved. "That’s the beginning. We continue to work and hope we get better all year long.”
So what happens if BOB plays very well tonight? Does he go again in Montreal?
I think he does. And regardless of what happens there, Bryzgalov would play the back end of the back-to-back against Winnipeg on Thursday. Either way, BOB was going to get at least a game this week with 4 on the schedule.
But if this whole communication thing had not blown up on SAT, I think Bryz would have been in net tonight.
