Czech on the Rise: Radek Faksa |

After being blessed by seeing the likes of Gabriel Landeskog, Mike Richards, Nazem Kadri, Ryan Murphy, and Jeff Skinner over the past ten years, Kitchener has once again been blessed this year, witnessing the meteoric rise of Radek Faksa, a top prospect for 2012. One who began the season a potential 2nd or 2rd round pick, Faksa recently jumped in many mock drafts and scouting lists into the Top 20.
At 6'3, 205 lbs, this Edmonton Oilers fan looks like an NHL'er, but he's really starting to play like one too.
Early in the season, I came away wanting more from Faksa who looked more like a utility player, but has since proved me wrong. The OHL's leading rookie scorer with 44 points in 39 games has been on fire and leading the charge for one of the CHL's Top 10 teams in Kitchener.
Faksa does some of his best work below the goal line using his frame to shield the puck well and cycle the play, outworking the opposition's Defense and then distributing the puck. He's a quick skater who can really shoot the puck as well, and even sees some PK time (the role he played at the World Juniors).
Steve Spott does it again with an astute Import pick, and looks to be developing another star.
