The Adirondack Phantoms are in Newark today to take on the Albany Devils in an afternoon preseason game at the AmeriHealth Pavilion. Albany beat Adirondack, 5-3, in Voorhees on Tuesday.

There is no radio broadcast or video Web stream for this afternoon's match. Game information will be posted afterwards on the Phantoms official site.

With the Phantoms in Newark, the Trenton Titans (Flyers' ECHL affiliate) will come to Voorhees today. The team will hold a preseason game against the Reading Royals at the SkateZone this evening.

The game starts at 7 PM. Attendance is free to the public. The Titans and Royals rematch tomorrow night at the Sovereign Center in Reading.

Claude Giroux and Danny Briere are likely to make their DEL debuts for Eisbären Berlin on Friday, Oct. 12, when the club hosts Kölner Haie (Cologne Sharks). In the interim, the Polar Bears play game today on the road versus the Thomas Sabo Ice Tigers and at home on Sunday versus the Hamburg Freezers.

Dallas Stars standout Jamie Benn signed with Hamburg earlier this week. Both Eisbären and the Freezers are owned by the Anschutz Entertainment Group, which also owns the NHL's Los Angeles Kings. Anschutz also owns Red Bull Salzburg in the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga and London's O2 Arena (venue of the first NHL Premiere in 2007).

When news broke of Giroux and Briere signing with Berlin, roughly a dozen people asked me where DEL games can be watched online. The official site is Laola1.TV. All webcasts are free.

If you want to get familiar with Eisbären, today's game Ice Tigers game is slated for broadcast on Laola1. Game time is 1:25 PM eastern U.S. and Canada time.

Ilya Bryzgalov remained a healthy scratch for CSKA Moscow yesterday, as Rastislav Stana returned to the lineup after suffering a minor injury in the third period of the team's previous game. Stana, a former Washington Capitals goaltender, leads the KHL in most goaltending categories. Ilya Proskuryakov has dressed as the backup.

In 10 starts to date, Stana has a sparkling 1.54 goals against average, .954 save percentage and a pair of shutouts. Stana has yielded a combined two goals over his last four starts. As long as Stana is healthy, it looks like Bryzgalov won't get many starts unless CSKA is playing on back-to-back days.

Yesterday, CSKA defeated Spartak Moscow in overtime, 2-1. Pavel Datsyuk scored both goals for CSKA, while Stana turned back 37 of 38 shots for the victory.

Both Jakub Voracek (HC Lev Prague) and Ruslan Fedotenko (HC Donbass Donetsk) are idle today. They return to action this weekend.

Lev will host SKA St. Petersburg in Prague. Donbass plays a home game against Vityaz on Sunday.

Matt Read is in Sweden, practicing with Södertälje SK. He received his temporary work card from the Swedish Immigration Department yesterday. As such, he is clear to make his Allsvenskan debut tomorrow for the team in a road game against Asplöven.

Read, who primarily played wing in his NHL rookie year but can play any forward position, is slated to center a line for SSK. His linemates in his first game will be Jesper Thörnberg and Damien Fleury. Thörnberg is a promising young winger, who is on loan from Elitserien team HV71 in order to get more ice time. Fleury, 26, is an import player from France who spent last season in Elitserien with Luleå and Timrå. He has been a fine scorer at the Allsvenskan level.

Allsvenskan games turn up occasionally on Swedish television on the Viasat) channel. The odd live streaming video makes its way online on sites such as these.

However, the most consistently reliable way to follow Allsvenskan games is via live in-game text and stat updates (in English) on the official Web site of the Swedish Ice Hockey Federation. You can also find line combinations for each team.

Here is an interview with Read done earlier today by SSK. Special thanks to Johan Myrberg to alerting me to the video.

Wayne Simmonds and his Eispiraten Crimmitschau team return to Bundesliga action today. The club will be on the road to take on the Fischtown Penguins. The game starts at 2 PM eastern U.S./Canada time.

A box score will be posted here shortly after the completion of the game.

The Players' Tour, led by the Flyers' Max Talbot and Bruno Gervais, makes a stop in Sherbrooke, Quebec. Game time is 7 PM. All proceeds are donated to charitable causes.

**************

Scott Laughton and Colin Suellentrop return to action tonight, as the Oshawa Generals take on the Kingston Frontenacs. Game time is 7:30 PM eastern. A free radio stream (Kingston broadcast) will be available here.

Nick Cousins is also playing tonight, as the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds oppose the Kitchener Rangers. Click here for the streaming radio feed of the Soo broadcast.

For all OHL games, you can also purchase a live webcast for $6.99.
