YESTERDAY'S GAME
* The Phantoms finished the preseason 0-3-0 after dropping a 3-1 decision to the Connecticut Whale yesterday. Brayden Schenn scored the lone Adirondack goal. The game was tied, 1-1, in the final minute of regulation when Chad Koralik scored to put the Whale ahead with 34.3 seconds left in regulation. Connecticut then added an empty-net goal. Scott Munroe made 31 save for the Phantoms. More game information
here.
* Jakub Voracek recorded an assist in HC Lev Prague's 4-3 to SKA St. Petersburg. Former Flyers netminder Sergei Bobrovsky was the winning goaltender in the game, making 24 saves on 27 shots.
* Matt Read made his Allsvenskan debut yesterday for Södertälje SK. He recorded an assist on a go-ahead goal in the second period but SSK ultimately lost to Asplöven via shootout, 3-2. Read had an unsuccessful attempt during the shootout.
* Coming off their Frozen Four run last year, Shayne Gostishbehere's Union College team entered the 2012-13 season ranked No. 5 in the NCAA. Unfortunately, the season got off to a poor start with a 4-1 loss to Merrimack College. Gostisbehere did not figure in the scoring and was minus-two in the game.
* Nick Cousins scored a goal for the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds last night in a 6-3 loss to the Sarnia Sting.
* Derek Mathers did not record a point and served one minor penalty (cross-checking) in 4-3 loss for the Peterborough Petes against the Sarnia Sting.
