FEDOTENKO DAY-TO-DAY AFTER EARLY EXIT

One day after scoring a hat trick in an overtime win over Evgeni Malkin's team, Ruslan Fedotenko was forced to leave HC Donbass's game yesterday with a lower-body injury sustained during the first period. He did not return. Donbass ultimately won its game against Traktor Chelyabinsk via shootout, 3-2.

Fedotenko's agent, Allan Walsh, posted on Twitter that the player left the game for precautionary reasons and had "tweaked" something. The team, which does not play again until next Wednesday, also declared it to be a day-to-day injury.

READ HELD OFF THE SCOREBOARD

Matt Read and Södertälje SK had been red hot entering yesterday's away game in Oskarshamn. The club had won six games in a row, sparked by the arrivals of Read and New York Rangers winger Carl Hagelin.

Yesterday, IK Oskarshamn became the first team to solve the line of Read, Hagelin and French national team winger Damein Fleury. SSK spent much of the day chasing the game. Although Hagelin ultimately set up what proved to SSK's lone goal in a 3-1 loss, the line really did not going until the third period. There were several scoring chances but no goals on this day. Read and Fleury finished without a point, while Hagelin had the one assist.

SSK has been very good at home, sporting a league-best 6-2-0 record on home ice. However, it has been the opposite situation on the road. Södertälje's 1-5-1 record on road ice is the biggest reason why the club currently sits in eighth place in the Allsvenskan standings.

The team has an important early-season game tomorrow against fallen Djurgårdens IF Stockholm. Sweden's most successful all-time team was shockingly relegated from Elitserien last season and is currently in ninth place in Allsvenskan. To put it in NHL terms, imagine if the Montreal Canadiens were relegated from the NHL to the AHL and were struggling this season even at the minor league level.

Tomorrow's game will air live on Viasat, and a stream may be available. Highlights of yesterday's match in Oskarshamn are available here. Despite not recording a point in the game, there were several nice plays made by Read, especially in the third period.

BRYZGALOV REMAINS HEALTHY SCRATCH

Former Washington Capitals goaltender Rastislav Stana got both starts for CSKA Moscow during its two-game road trip through the former Czechoslovakia. Yesterday, CKSA was in Prague, Czech Republic, where it downed HC Lev, 3-2.

Stana took a shutout into the third period before yielding a pair of power play goals; the latter of which was scored late in regulation with Lev goaltender Tomas Pöpperle pulled for a 6-on-4 attack. Overall, Stana stopped 25 of 27 shots.

Ilya Bryzgalov has not dressed for any of the CSKA games in which he has not been the starting goaltender, and yesterday was no exception. Ilya Proskuryakov backed up Stana in Prague. It remains to be seen when Bryzgalov will get his next start. CSKA plays on Sunday and Wednesday.

For the season, Bryzgalov has started four games, with a 1-3-0 record, 3.23 goals against average and .887 save percentage. Stana has appeared in 14 games (11 starts), with a 9-2-0 record, 1.55 goals against average, .947 save percentage and three shutouts. Proskuryakov has made five starts (all prior to Bryzgalov's arrival), with a 2-1-2 record, 2.13 goals against average and .931 save percentage.

ROUGH NIGHT FOR COUSINS, GREYHOUNDS

Flyers forward prospect Nick Cousins was held off the scoreboard in the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds' 5-1 loss to the Niagara IceDogs last night.

Cousins had two shots on goal, a minor penalty for slashing and was minus two.
