I'm getting more concerned that this lockout is headed off the white cliffs of Dover.
Here's why: The NHLPA held a conference call today with its executive board and negotiating committee to update them on "dialogue," I was told.
What this is about, is making sure the word gets out to union membership that are all on the same page and backing Donald Fehr's game plan.
What concerns me is that nothing of relevance - a new proposal, a new tactic, etc.- was discussed, I was told.
We will enter the 8th week of the lockout on Sunday and there is NO end in sight. On Friday, we can expect the NHL to cancel the Winter Classic.
I want to reiterate what an active Board of Governor told me last month: Once the Winter Classic gets axed, the likelihood of cancelling the remainder of the season increases dramatically.
The Commish, Gary Bettman, thinks the union will crack.
I am convinced he is very wrong.
