PHANTOMS: MORNING MATCH IN MANCHESTER

The Adirondack Phantoms are in New Hampshire this morning to take on the Manchester Monarchs (Los Angeles Kings affiliate) in a game that starts at 10:00 a.m. eastern. Over their last three games, the Phantoms (5-6-0) have allowed a combined three goals. However, offensive production has remained sporadic, especially on the power play.

The Monarchs (7-3-0-1) enter the game in first place in the Atlantic Division, while the Phantoms are currently fourth in the Northeast Division.

After missing the last two games due to the flu, Sean Couturier practiced in full yesterday and is expected to play today. Meanwhile, power forward Tye McGinn did not make the trip and, according to the Saratogian, is day-to-day with a muscle strain.

The game also marks the first game for Brayden Schenn against his former organization. He was not with the Flyers at the time the LA Kings paid an early season to visit to Philadelphia and did not play against Manchester in his brief AHL stint. Meanwhile, this will be the first time Terry Murray has coached against the LA organization since being fired as Kings coach midway through last season.

Brandon Kozun leads the Monarchs in scoring to date, with 12 points (4 goals, 8 assists) in 11 games). Other notables on the team include Andrei Loktionov (8 points in 9 games), rookie Tyler Toffoli (7 points in 11 games) defenseman Slava Voynov (7 points in 11 games) and goaltender Martin Jones (6-3-1, 1.79 GAA, .935 SV%, 3 SO).

Following is the projected Phantoms starting lineup based on Monday's practice combos:

Harry Zolnierczyk - Sean Couturier - Shane Harper
Eric Wellwood - Brayden Schenn - Ben Holmstrom
Zac Rinaldo - Rob Bordson - Matt Ford
Tyler Brown - Andrew Johnston - Mike Testwuide

Erik Gustafsson - Marc-Andre Bourdon
Brandon Manning - Danny Syvret
Oliver Lauridsen - Cullen Eddy

Cal Heeter
Scott Munroe

TUESDAY ROUNDUP

* Matt Read is day-to-day with a deep bruise after taking a puck in the foot during Södertälje's practice last Friday. He did not play on Monday or play in yesterday's game against Örebro HK. Even without the services of Read and Carl Hagelin (shoulder), SSK managed a 3-2 win via shootout. It was the team's ninth victory in its last 10 games.

* Max Talbot made his SM-liiga debut for Ilves Tampere in a 5-3 loss to Kärpät Oulu. Talbot scored a third-period power play goal to spark a rally that brought the team back from a 4-1 deficit to within one goal. However, the club was unable to find an equalizer. Former Phantoms/Flyers goaltender Johan Backlund earned the win, while new Tampa Bay Lightning netminder Anders Lindbäck took the loss.

* Wayne Simmonds did not play for Liberec in its European Trophy game in Switzerland against SC Bern. Neither did his linemates Petr Neded or Chris Stewart. Bern won the game in overtime, 5-4. John Tavares led the way with a goal and two assists for Bern. Later in the day, it was announced that Stewart has opted to leave Liberec to rejoin German Bundesliga club Eispiraten Crimmitschau.
