The union is ticked off that The Commish, Gary Bettman, pulled a bit of a switch 'en bait, late last night after Donald Fehr allowed the "disclaimer of interest" deadline to pass.
Now the union, angry at that and other things, is voting for the next 48 hours on getting approval from membership to file "disclaimer" once again.
Every time we have progress in these talks, something stupid happens and it all goes to hell. But we're running out of time. Jan. 11 looms in the near distance.

Mediator Scot Beckebaugh, according to The Commish, Gary Bettman, told both parties to be available at 10 today to resume talks.
The union countered this morning saying, they were told no such time. They'll come after their internal meetings are over.

The good news is, the union DIDN'T file or initiate a "disclaimer of interest," which I said on CSNPhilly.con and Comcast SportsNet could have been very destructive to the entire process at this poin.t We are so close to getting something done and anything major to distract the process at hand could halt the talks.
One source told me today, "Some owners are cautiously optimistic," as we head into the Thursday sessions.
As I said before, however, the issues of player pension funding, who's liable, and who makes up for any shortfalls remains a HUGE priority to the players. They feel they have already given back waaaay too much to the league during this 110-day lockout to concede on something as important as this.
