Jakub Voracek deserves being named NHL No. 1 Star of the Week.
His 12 points over the last 5 games have given the Flyers a lift and catapulted him among the NHL scoring leaders with 22 points.
As Bill Meltzer has pointed out, he's become a point-a-game players, something both Columbus and the Flyers always believed was within him.
John Boruk and I were discussing today how Voracek still doesn't seem entirely confident in his slot. In some ways, he would be a better as a center because he always looks to pass and he is very good at finding people on the ice.
I want to see Voracek shoot more and get into that "dirty goal" range which is going to have to be his range because he does not have a canon shot like a John LeClair.
I wondered how Voracek would do this season without his confidante in Jaromir Jagr but he seems to have done just fine and the fit with Claude Giroux looks pretty good to me since they are both skill players.
The Flyers need points and wins on this home stand to make up for lost points at the start of the season. I remain concerned about teams behind them having so many games in hand.
I could easily see the Flyers making the playoffs by 2-3 points or missing them by 1-2.
