Young Mr. Game 7

The San Jose-Los Angeles series was truly entertaining.

Really like the way the Kings responded in Game 7 and how they came out with a purpose in mind and then proceeded to follow through the entire game.

Never ceases to amaze me how many ex-Flyers have an impact in the playoffs somewhere. Aside from the obvious of Mike Richards and Jeff Carter from a year ago this time with the Kings, you gotta like Justin Williams.

Scored both goals in Game 7 on Tuesday. While he may not be Danny Briere in post-season, "Willy" has his own thing going. He's quite the man in Game 7s right now among those active players still playing.

He now has 5 goals in Game 7s for his career, going back to his days as a Flyer, then at Carolina where he won his first Stanley Cup before coming to LA to grab another.

I like what he told the Orange County Register after the game:

“I'm going to have to play a few more Game 7s, and have a little more success, to get that [Mr. Game 7] name,” Williams said.

“But I'm certainly happy I was able to contribute. Goals have been tough to come by for me in this series, so I was happy to help out and get a couple.”

Williams was always a humble, sincere and funny guy in Philly and from people tell me, he hasn't changed. He was in our area the entire lockout with his family, too, and still feels Philly is kinda home to him.

So many of these series have gone long, you wonder how much it's taking a toll on team. But whoever comes out of Chicago-Detroit will be just as weary as LA. And even Boston.

At the start of the playoffs, I had Pittsburgh surviving the East over Boston and Chicago surviving over Anaheim.

I'm sticking with Pittsburgh but the West ... LA seems to have hit another gear here and might have earned a change in vote from me to come out of the West and into the Final.

The Avs reportedly are willing to talk about trading their No. 1 pick but even if that were to happen, I don't see the Flyers having enough quality assets to get that pick without harming their own franchise.
