4pm: Oh and by-the-way -- the Isles will have a draft party this year. Details coming soon. Matt Carkner and Matt Martin will be there this year. Tickets are of course FREE.
As per Art Staple of Newsday at 12:25 pm it seems that Mark Streit has turned down the New York Islanders best offer for a new contract and will hit the open market.
*2pm: Per Newsday, the 3 year deal that was offered was at $4.75 mil per. He seems to want a bit more. Just a thought, but without Streit on the team, I'm thinking Nino becomes a little bit more 'tradeable.'
Expect John Tavares to be crowned the new Isles Captain and for Garth Snow to find another vet "D."
Garth Snow is also going to be contract discussions with Josh Bailey and Travis Hamonic and will be looking to lock both up long term.
I can't imagine either will be looking to head anywhere else. Besides their RFA status, they have made a name for themselves on a team that stars John Tavares and are all part of this little Isles family. They are part of the "core" and will be happy to find a deal, I'm sure of it.
Begin the discussion.
