Scott Laughton lasted 5 games with the Flyers as an 18-year-old prospect coming out of junior last winter.
This fall, he didn't even make one game.
On Thursday morning, the Flyers sent the young centerman back to his junior club in Oshawa while recalling Kris Newbury - an even bigger surprise _ from the Phantoms.
Newbury over Michael Raffl, Tye McGinn and Chris VandderVelde? Apparently, so.
Laughton was a healthy scratch in Wednesday's loss to Toronto.
BTW: Here's coach Peter Laviolette's thoughts on the 3-1 loss:

“Peter, how big were the power play chances, and how big would it have been to convert some of them early?”
“There were lots of chances on the power play, we ended up with I think 13 shots, but it takes time to set everything up and get the play flowing but I think both units did a good job tonight moving the puck and generating scoring opportunities. It just comes down to if we convert them or not.”
“What do you like about playing Schenn with Giroux and Hartnell?”
“We had practiced that way a couple times going into tonight, were just trying to get a balance in scoring. Tonight we threw about 75 attempts at net tonight with 30 shots on net… you’d like to come away with more than one goal. But having Brayden up there on that line, I thought it gave him a spark and he played a great game, but at the end of the day you’d like to see one or two more of those go in.”
“How much of a momentum changer do you think Simmonds penalty shot was?”
“Well it would have been nice to capitalize there and gain some momentum to end the period, but Bernier played a solid game for them in net.”
“Outside the final score, do you feel as if you had outplayed them tonight, especially offensively?”
“Offensively that’s the best we’ve looked in a while, but at the end of the day you’ve got to score more than one goal to win a game. We had a lot of chances, but there were plenty of missed shots and shots that they had blocked, it seemed like we had a lot of zone time but you have to give Toronto credit because they made us earn the tough ice and played a solid game defensively.
“What did you think of Mason in net tonight?”
“I think he played well tonight, made some big saves, but we need to give him more offensive support to keep us in the game and to walk away with a win.
