Reaction from Flyers at Skate Zone today to Peter Laviolette's firing and the hiring of Craig Berube:
Claude Giroux:
"That was a tough day yesterday. I was with Lavy for a while. To see him leave is a little sad. It’s the business part of it and we need to understand that. Having Chief coming in is going to have a different mindset. We only have today to work on some stuff. Guys are pretty excited to get back on track.
"We’re the ones on the ice, doing the job and obviously, we didn’t get the job done. We need to play more as a team on the ice. There’s no doubt off the ice we’re a team. We like each other. We need to show it on the ice."
Giroux on what Berube has told them:
"Like he said, too, play without the puck. Being in good position. Being where you need to be and supporting your teammates basically. We’re playing as individuals right now and you don’t win like that. The whole team needs to be on the same page and working together.
"Like I said, we need to support each other. We don’t look like a team on the ice. We don’t play. when a guy has the puck the other guys is not working to get open for him. That is something as players that has to change and it will change, too."

Braydon Coburn:
"A lot of guys were pretty surprised. I think a lot of guys in here care about him getting dismissed like that.
Feel responsible?
"Absolutely. Anytime the team’s not winning…it’s our responsibility to go out there and win those games.

Scott Hartnell:
"Obviously you don't want to see a good guy like Lavy go. Ever since he got here a few years ago, he got the guys going, he got them refocused the year we made the Cup run.
He made me a better player on the ice and a better guy off the ice, too. We're going to miss Lavy.
"In this game, it's hard sometimes to accept what's going on, but moving forward Chief's
got a lot of respect from the guys in the dressing room. He's played before and especially the way he played he deserved respect."
Tonight: Berube is going back to some of the Flyer defensive pairs they had last season.
That means ... Coburn with Nick Grossmann; Kimmo Timonen with Luke Schenn.
“I didn’t see much from the pairings that were going on, so I made some changes with what I thought,” Berube said. “Coby and Grossy is a shutdown pair, and Streit and Meszaros can both move the puck real well, and I thought that Kimmo and Schenner were good last year together.”
