* Denmark registered an upset 4-3 shootout victory over the Czech Republic yesterday at the 2014 IIHF World Championships in Minsk, Belarus. Phantoms defenseman Oliver Lauridsen logged 15:47 of ice time for the victorious Danes. He was even at full strength but was out for a power play goal scored by former Flyers right winger Jaromir Jagr in the first period. Mikkel Boedker scored the winning goal for Denmark in the shootout.

* Phantoms forward Marcel Noebels did not record a point but skated 17:56 of ice time and was credited with one shot on goal in Germany's 5-2 loss to Belarus yesterday. Germany plays Russia today.

* Today's World Championship games are highlighted by a clash between Canada and Sweden. To date, Matt Read has posted four points (two goals, two assists) in Canada's first five games. Read has averaged 16:53 of ice time per game and has been a stalwart on Canada's top penalty killing unit. Brayden Schenn has three points (two goals, one assist) while averaging 15:09 of ice time. Braydon Coburn has averaged 19:29 of ice time with an even plus-minus and four minor penalties. For Team Sweden, former Flyers defenseman Erik Gustafsson has dressed in three games and missed the last two. He is minus-two.
