There's been a lot of talk that the Boston Bruins may be willing to shake things up under newly appointed GM Don Sweeney.
One name that's been thrown into the mix of potential trade candidates is forward Milan Lucic.
In today's edition of the hotstove we examine whether or not a Lucic trade is something the Bruins should be pursuing.

I think the Bruins should definitely be listening to offers for Milan Lucic.
The Bruins are not in a friendly cap situation and they could shed a big ticket while getting good value in return if they wish to move Lucic.
He's perceived as a high-end power forward who is dominant when on but quite frankly his dominant stretches are few and far between.
Over the last three years (207 regular season games) Lucic has 49 goals. That averages out to 19 goals per 82 games. It's not as if he's an elite playmaker so he's not piling up points even while struggling to fill the net.
Simply put I don't think Lucic is worth $6 million per season. I also think the Bruins would be able to fetch a solid return for him if they make him available.
I don't think he'll be traded but if I'm Sweeney I'm more than open to the possibility.

No.
I like Milan Lucic, and I'd welcome him on my team any day of the week.
Not only is most of the league afraid of him, but he's generally a solid possession player from year to year and produces at a good rate at even strength.
I think Lucic just had a down season and I don't buy into any of the "wearing down because of his style of play" crap. He's 27, and he's fine. Everyone is entitled to a down season.
The Boston Bruins will only get worse if they trade Milan Lucic - and they certainly won't do anything to help move towards being the tough team that the front office wants to get back to.

They should absolutely trade Lucic and they should do it for picks and prospects.
They need to do it for a few reasons 1) He's not worth 6M dollars per year. 2) They are going to need the Cap space to match the Offer Sheet the Oilers are going to give to Dougie Hamilton.
They cant keep everybody on that team and I think they already got Lucic's best years in the NHL. He can be a 40+ point guy for several more years but I think 60 from here on out is unlikely for him. Nobody in their right mind will take Krejci at his price point and the Bruins would be looney tunes to move Bergeron or Rask. ML is the easy man out and they need space.
