In his latest blog, Eklund says the Canucks are now one of the teams who could have an interest in #88, Eric Lindros.
Lindros turned 34 this year and earned $1.55 million with the Stars last season in 49 games played.
The Big E had 5 goals and 21 assists to go along with 70 PIM's.
When he finally made it into the Stars lineup during the playoffs, he was supposed to be the fiery catalyst to help Dallas get by the Canucks in the first round. Didn't happen.
I still remember back in 1992-93 when the mighty Lindros joined the league in Philadelphia, or was it the Rangers, or was it Quebec? Meh, I forget now. One thing I do know is I had a Lindros poster on my wall because he was one of my favourite players. So big. So skilled. So mean.
Then in 1996 when the training camp for the World Cup of Hockey was held up in Whistler, BC, my friends and I slept on the sidewalk outside the rink in chilly Whistler to be some of the few lucky fans to watch the camp.
Lindros was on that team. So was Yzerman, Coffey, Gretzky, Messier, Stevens. What a lineup! The US still beat the Canadians in the finals, though. Damnit.
Could Lindros be an affordable contributor to the Canucks? Your guess is as good as mine. Your guess is probably as good as his, too. I'm not sure Dave Nonis wants to sign a player based on a guess, either.
One thing for sure, Lindros loves
The Roxy. But what NHL player doesn't?
Could the
The Big E stand for
The Big Error?
