Today it came out that Kevin Klein was injured in last night's preseason game. He suffered a seperated shoulder injury and is expected to miss 3 to 4 weeks. This doesn't absolutely ensure Koistinen the 7th defenseman spot but after yesterday's performance it might as well be sealed. This is just bad luck for Klein who was performing well so far this week.

Today's scrimmage was all the younger guys going up against each other. Blue squad won again with a 5 to 1 final. Goal scorers included Guerriero with 2 goals, Maki, O'Reilly, Pihlstrom, and Henry scoring 1 goal respectively.

In net today was a rotation of Grumet-Morris, Smith, and Daigneault.

Other notes:

I really like the play of Vigilante today. He looked like a good defensive forward and had some smart plays.

Ellison had a beautiful set up to Setzinger but Oliver couldn't bury the chance.

The pairing of Spaling and Pihlstrom was quite effective and they had a great forecheck and pressure on their shifts.

Franson looked pretty good overall today.

Everyday I grow more impressed with the play of Jonathon Blum. He looked real good today.

Sjodin was stopped on a powerplay/penalty shot by Grumet-Morris.

O'Reilly scored his goal on the powerplay/penalty chance against Smith.

Expect the younger guys at the Wednesday scrimmage as well. This will likely be the last time you'll see some of them for awhile. See you at the rink!
