So here we are. I'm sitting in section 214 next to Ek as he chats with Sam Woo on his radio show. It's funny to be on radio, especially when you are a writer hoping to sound lucid when the pen isn't on paper or my chubby little digits pounding a keyboard.
Eklund is talking about the age-old question of fighting in hockey. Little does he know - will be trying to add a new feature in the press: fighting in the press room.
Imagine if you will the very great beat writer for Newsday, Greg Logan eating a hotdog and beer, suddenly finding himself taking a body check through the wall by hockey blogger B.D. Gallof. Of course, that hotdog would be mine. Finder keepers, losers ooooooooph....some Rangers scout just hit me with his laptop.
Well, you get the idea. ;)

Crowd isn't terrific. I had been talking to someone trying gauge what the crowd would be like...but as I told him, its so tough to predict preseason.
Sutton just walloped someone out the gate...and we say hello to some bad intentions already with the rivalry.
Good PK by Isles and when Sutton comes back out he gets a breakaway, but stopped. Orr fights him right after.
Fight only seconds later with Kip Brennan beating up Strudwick. It is a very chippy game and expect to see lots more.

Isles are cycling more...creating some opportunities.
Rangers are doing same. Things have settled a bit..the last penalty was roughings to Simon and Hollweg.

Full out fights all over. DP gets involved and we have a goalie fight! DP gets on top and dispenses a beating. Wild one. We'll need IBM to tally the penalty minutes

Isles are too loose and off-kilter from this crazy game. Rangers are showing more poise. Bergenheim with a another Isles penalty.

Another Isles score! 4-3. Nice end to a wild period.

3rd period:
Hilbert gets snagged for tripping. Rangers on the attack. Penalty on Byars for hooking. More penalties for Rangers then Isles. The penalty box is getting more action than Paris Hilton.
Vasicek with a great run down ice gets the equalizer. Assists by Martinek and MAB. Shanny with a interference call.
Fearless Freddy Meyer with another penalty. Isles kill it. Ranger have 29 shots to the Isles 20

2:43 Shanny and Meyer get into it. Shanny with the extra 2 minutes. Isles win. Comrie with another goal. Great game for fight fans and those who were worried about the 1st line of Guerin, Comrie and Feds. They, and Berard, ran the show tonight.
