Sources are telling me that the loooooong awaited launch of the NHL Network in America is coming....Sources have confirmed for me that an October Launch will happen...not by the first in all areas, but in October. Comcast looks to be launching October 1.

UPDATE The following press release was given to me by a source...it comes from Cox Cable..

"Effective October 30, Cox will also launch the NHL Network, featuring 24- hour hockey coverage including live games. The network's signature show -- NHL On The Fly -- offers hockey fans exclusive coverage of each game, including press conferences, expert analysis, and special highlights from the NHL All- Star Game, NHL Stanley Cup Final and NHL Entry Draft. NHL Network will be offered on channel 248 of the Digital Sports and Info tier for Fairfax County and Fredericksburg-area customers."

Also I according to the following link...

Comcast will launch the network on or after October 16 on digital chanel 276

I will update this story throughout the day.

Blue Jackets and Canucks Talking? Oilers?

I am chasing down a rumour this morning that the Jackets are talking to the Canucks about "a center off of their roster." I don't yet know what is being discussed the other way.

I am also hearing that there have been some discussions that the Oilers may make a pitch for Zherdev.

LA....Gerber or Halak?

So how quick can they get one of these two to London? I don't know if I see either jumping on the Concord, but it may not take long....The Sens will need to make ABSOLUTELY sure that Emery is their man this preseason before this can be considered. The Sens look awesome so far this season. Talking to a Sens player yesterday, "No Cup hangover here. We are on a mission."

Rangers looking for re-entry partner for Kasparaitis?

Remember Nedved last year? The Sens asked the Flyers to put Nedved on re-entry waivers and then the Oilers grabbed him. I am hearing that a few teams (possibly the Lightning, Sens, Sharks, and the Sabres) are considering just that option. This would mean that the Rangers would have to pay half of the Kasparaitis salary hit and another team could get a VERY good tough as nails defenseman at half price.
