Caps vs Isles: How Bad Do they Want It? |

|
A loss to the New Jersey Devils on Friday night put the Washington Capitals in a foul mood. They have now dropped their last five games. That's a skid that seems more like the NY Islanders than the Caps. But fate is fickle and the Caps are in a tough spot clinging to hope they can sneak into the playoffs.
The Islanders are playing for fun right now and with ten rookies in the line up, facing the Great Eight will be a boatload of fun. Sending him home without any points will be even more fun.
Certainly the youngsters shouldn't get ahead of themselves and get too cocky about their record for the last ten games. They're still finishing last in their division, but at least it could be entertaining for the home town crowd this afternoon to see the kids in orange and blue deal the Caps another loss.
It's possible. If Jiggs was calling the game today -- they'd win for sure.
Michael Grabner was skating with the team yesterday, but my feeling is leave him out. There is no sense in leaving him open to a possible additional injury. And seriously, I do not trust Ovechkin. He drives hard and hits hard when he wants to and right now -- he's not a happy man. Tom Wilson took Patrick Elias out of last night's game, we don't need anyone sending Grabner to the hospital.
If Josh Bailey scores again tonight, I think Twitter will break. Whether it's confidence or pressure or playing on the first line, the Isles have got to figure out what makes Bailey tick. Send him to a therapist, a shaman or a personal trainer, but find out how to get this Josh Bailey -- the one that can be at the right place at the right time on the ice -- to show up in October not March.
