Ewwwe: You Gonna Eat That?

Okay, this is one of those This, That and the Other Thing sort of posts. I attempted to write it this morning, but started out in the HB instead of word and I hit something wrong and my entire post disappeared. I didn’t have time to do it over so, I just shut down and went to work.

So let’s see what’s going on around the web.

If you caught the ESPN article on the cleanliness of stadiums around North America you may want to puke. I owned a restaurant, so I have knowledge of board of health regulations and how easy it is to fail, but some of the numbers are pretty frightening.

MSG had like 61% concession violations while the Coliseum had -- None. Now, I find that pretty hard to believe because there are violations everywhere when it comes to food concessions. But, it passed with a clean bill of health. The Washington Caps arena however, had (wait for it) 100% vendor concession violations. I’m sorry. 100%? Yeah.

Okay, next up something else that threw me off me chair today was the announcement of the new Islanders ECHL affiliate: the Kalamazoo K-Wings. Now I would normally not have a clue about an ECHL team out of Kalamazoo Michigan had it not been for the fact that one of my “B” words who are no long with the Islanders played for the K-Wings and then rushed off to Austria.

The NHLPA has filed a grievance for the rejection of the Kovalchuk contract, as expected. Interesting that they waited until the last day to do it. I just found it interesting that they called it a “standard player contract.” If anyone can find anything “standard” about it, please let me know.

Sad to head that some are still beating the “Bill Jaffe was fired” drum. As much as I like Jaffe as a person and an announcer, is it really that big of a deal that it had to be called a “firing” by Steve Simmons of Sun.ca? He wasn’t FIRED, he just wasn’t given a new contract. Semantics people.

Mat Moulson, our 30 goal scorer, will have his arbitration hearing tomorrow in Toronto. He was hoping it would get done before it came to this, but has not. I’m wondering who Matty’s agent is. I’m hoping for a positive outcome from tomorrow, but yes am sad that it had to get this far. It would have been nicer if a contract was already in place and all was settled. I hope he's getting good advice instead of perhaps being led astray.

Maybe they can have a amicable meeting, work out an excellent deal and all go to lunch at Wayne Gretzky’s. Then come home. I’m hoping he comes home with a 3 year deal if possible. Then I know what number I’m getting for my necklace.

I’m hoping to hit up Cupcake Gourmet tomorrow with Johnny Z from YES!Islanders. Let’s see how those bad boys actually taste!
