Old News Dept: Ken Reiter was sent to an ECHL team by the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. Did we even know the Islanders had any relationship with an ECHL team any longer? No.
Recent News: NY Islanders General Manager Garth Snow will be doing a goalie clinic at IceWorks on Sunday, October 14th for two hours. One hour on ice, one hour off the ice and more than likely a little time for photos and autographs. Check the website for the phone number to register. I hear it's $70.
New Rumor News Dept: Could Rick DiPietro be looking to dust off his passport?
Matt Stein @xxstein13xx
Find it mind boggling that #Riessersee in the Germany league is interested in Rick #DiPietro! Did I miss something here lol?! #SMH #Isles
Personally, I can’t imagine how miserable Rick must feel after working so hard to be in shape enough to play and then not have the season start. If he heads to Germany to play, I say ‘Good for him!’ He deserves a shot at seeing some game time.
While there was the question of insurance, there may be loopholes. There are always loopholes and perhaps the entire length of his contract doesn’t need to be insured.
Is it just too early for a deal?
This morning while listening to
HTM on
SiriusXMNHL, they had a lawyer on who was trying to explain how labor negotiations work. What it comes to new labor agreements, it seems he feels there’s a time frame. Neither side wants to give in ‘too quickly.” Really?
His opinion was that neither will blink before late November. I say if they wait that long, the season is done and we all lose.
Matt Moulson's Twitter account @MMoulson ended up in Newsday this morning as someone to follow. Would that be also classified as old news?
Michael Grabner is doing well with his home town team and now is Tweeting in both English and German. My phone looks quite international now with @Grabs40 joining Bruno Gervais French Tweets.
This weekend, I will be switching gears to NCAA hockey. Although I will not be anywhere near as good at it as Julie.
