2:23 pm: So Justin Bourne did an interview with Blake Comeau on Puck Daddy (http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/blog/puck_daddy/post/Bourne-Blog-Islanders-Blake-Comeau-on-battling?urn=nhl-293791&utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter_) some very good quotes from a guy who is in the middle of this losing streak.
1:46 pm: Rob Carlin's Tweet question of the night:
Our tweet question of the night - #Isles get first look at Tyler Seguin.. Who has been the best rookie so far this season? GameNight at 6:30
Let him your your answer on Twitter @RobCarlinMSG
11:33 am: From Ms. Strang's eye-witness account, Roloson is the only goalie skating in the optional skate, so she expects Rick DiPietro to be in net tonight.
The Islanders arrived in Boston yesterday to face the Bruins tonight who stand at 33 points and 15 wins. The Islanders have 15 total points. A very sad state of affairs indeed. But it is a new day and the Isles and their coaching staff have had a few days to tinker with lines and plays. Tonight we see if anything Dean Chynoweth has done will improve the power play that stands now at 0 for 36.
Before leaving, Jack did not announce who would be in net tonight and since he seems to make game day morning skates "optional," he may not announce his netminder until the last minute. We will need to wait for information from the rink this morning via Twitter.
It is time for those remaining in good health on this squad to step it up a notch. With Jesse Joensuu on the Moulson, Tavares line, I'd like to see more than just good playmaking. I'd like to see goals. Thank you.
Frans Nielsen has had great excellent chances the last few games. Tonight I'd like to see one find the back of the net. I want to see Moulson find a hole on Tim Thomas' doorstep. (Make that Rask's!) It doesn't have to be a pretty win, but it has to be a hard fought win. More than anything -- a win.
Yesterday, I found all the news surrounding the Islanders very interesting as well as disconcerting. I made the mistake of reading financial news links that paint a bleak picture and listened to the SNY interview with Brendan Witt. While not an atom bomb, it did have the effect of an M80 on a quiet afternoon.
Fan reaction has been mixed, but I respect Witt's honesty and willingness to talk -- now. I always liked Witt, even though at first he scared the daylights out of me. He has a good heart and has done countless acts of charity during his career. But last year, where he was in his career did not fit with where the Islanders were as a team.
There are many coaches in all sports that "take things personally." That shouldn't be much of a surprise. An excellent interview, but the point is moot. Someone in a comment section somewhere said the next interview may be Bill Guerin, who retired this week. I say it will be ex-head coach Ted Nolan. ;-)
Look for Rob Carlin from MSG's pregame show tonight from Boston and his Twitter question of the day. And everyone -- light a candle for a win. They need it.
