Snow Plays Coy? Newsday says May trade back |

**update: 3:24 pm: Katie Strang just tweeted out that the NYI is considering trading back from no. 5 according to a source. It will depend on who is taken No 3 & 4. Um... oh.. great. it's 2008 all over again.
The headline on the Newsday article reads "Isles' Snow playing it coy on eve of NHL draft." Not exactly news. When doesn't he play coy? But that wasn't what struck me about the article behind the infamous paywall. (I have Cablevision and pay for the newspaper so I get to read it. Nah nah.)
No, what struck me was this:
The Islanders will also field offers to trade their pick, but it is believed that Snow would be unwilling to part with it unless he received a comparable young NHL player or prospect. If Snow was offered a player similar to the player he plans on drafting with 2-4 years of additional experience, he'd consider making the swap to expedite the team's development..
Well, now isn't that a new scenario! I can't even imagine the sound of the crowd at the Coliseum should thousands of people have shown up for the Draft Party tomorrow night only to hear "The Islanders have traded their 5th overal draft pick for ..."
AGGGHHHHH!!!!! THEN WHY WOULD WE BE THERE??? For the Stache Station? Don't get me wrong, I'm loving seeing Trevor Gillies tomorrow night, but Good Grief -- if Garth Snow doesn't walk up to that podium tomorrow night and announce a name that I've spent the last few weeks researching then I will more than likely -- scream.
