Wild Night in Uniondale 6 - 0 |

"Weird" was the word going in. "Wild win" were the words going out. A shut-out for Ilya Bryzgalov who made 36 saves while Nilsson struggled facing 22 shots from the Wild.
New York fell to 10-18-8 at the Coliseum, the worst home record in the NHL.
The Wild were looking for points after losing to Boston 24 hours before, so tired as they may have been, they played better than the well-rested, yet injury depleated Isles. Kevin Czuczman made his NHL debut and was admittedly nervous. While he didn't make any horrendous errors, it was a bit like being thrown into the fire. When Brian Strait left the game with a broken hand from blocking a shot, Jack had no choice but to give the newbie extra ice time; 20:06 to be exact inlcuding 1:14 on Doug Weight's power play and 1:04 on the PK. Yep, thrown into the fire.
You knew Matt Moulson wasn't leaving the Coliseum without a goal. He left with two and a standing ovation and chants of "We Want Moulson." He played the entire final minute of the third, but the Hat Trick was elusive. It didn't matter, he still had a three point night and was the first star of the game.
The fan's reaction to Nino Niederreiter was far from welcoming. Every time the kid touched the puck, they would boo. Sad reaction to a kid who really isn't bad. But it is what it is.
Jared Spurgeon also scored on Nilsson making him the second ex-Islander to score for the night. Seems Spurgeon was drafted by the Isles, but never signed. I did not know this.
Mikael Granlund scored the third goal of the game with a Pominville assist and Clayton Stoner scored his first goal of the season after being sprung from the box skating "with the grace of an elephant." I loved that tweet.
The fifth goal for the Wild had to be postponed until Toronto called and said "Uh, guys... you missed a goal. Turn on the goal light."
It was a deflating loss for the Isles and a necessary win for the Wild. And what did you expect?
