GM Bob Murray may have been quiet early, but he finished the day with a flurry of trades.

Deal 1 - Brendan Pirri from Florida for a 2016 6th round pick.

If his injury time table is accurate, I love this one. Its a steal. Dave Tallon should have been able to get more for Pirri. Only 24 years old, the Toronto native has scored 75 points in 157 games. This season, eight of his 24 points have come on the power play. He's a nice addition to a red-hot power play. Pirri will join the list of Ducks who will become restricted free agents after the season.

Deal 2 – Jamie McGinn from Buffalo for a conditional 3rd round pick.

I admit I was a bit puzzled when this deal broke. McGinn has been a good player on a developing Sabres squad. He isn't necessarily a “skill” player, so where does he fit in? The Ducks have a plethora of “energy” and checking wings. It wasn't until all the dust settled at the buzzer before his acquisition could be fully appreciated. The third round pick (becomes a second if the Ducks make the WCF and McGinn plays 50% of the games) Anaheim dealt is a fair price.

Deal 3 – Patrick Maroon sent to Edmonton for Martin Gernat and a 2016 4th round pick.

The McGinn trade looked much better once this trade happened. Maroon goes through stretches where he disappears. Although he has played better since the line shuffle, his inconsistency was a big reason why he was moved out. His departure also clears $2M per season through 2017-18. Gernat was a former fifth round pick by the Oilers. Its unlikely he gets re-signed when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Deal 4 – Tim Jackman and a 7th round pick sent to Chicago for Corey Tropp

Jackman has been a loyal soldier for the Ducks. The “tough guy” was a fan favorite, but victim to the numbers game in Anaheim. Hopefully, the Ducks won't have to play against him in the playoffs.

Crowdy

This was sent to me and I thought this was really interesting:

"A group of Ducks season ticket holders have launched a free new app called Crowdy. Ducks fans who are attending games can coordinate and synchronizes chants, like "Ref U Suck," "Beat L.A." and "Jon-a-Thon, Jon-a-thon." Other featured are planned too, like in-game chat. It was launched at the Games-Kings game. Download Crowdy (Join your crowd) for iPhone or Android for free. Then join the "Let's Go Ducks" crowd. Crowd leaders at the game and others will then alert you by push notification about certain chants, to help energize the Ducks crowd. Again there's no cost!"

Sounds like fun.
