It's certainly been an interesting day!
It is really no big secret that Kesler and Torts don't see eye to eye and that he has long said he would welcome a deal to certain select cities.
A few years ago, right after the Olympics, Brian Burke thought he had a deal for Kesler...but Vancouver wanted nothing of it.
The Flyers, who once offer sheeted Kesler, have ALWAYS loved the guy.
Enter Tortorella....
Some might call him a bit of a polarizing figure.... One player once told me, "There are guys who will move mountains for him, and guys who wanted to throw themselves off of mountains because of him.." Yeh, that is a wee bit polarizing...
The Red Wings love Ryan too and I was told when the Jordan Tootoo rumors swirled earlier this year Kesler's name came up more than once...(obviously NOT for Tootoo straight up. but were the deal to widen.)
Lou Lamoriello would love nothing more than to land Kesler...as would Glen Sather...
So now, tonight, the hockey world is a buzz (pun intended) about Ryan Kesler having demanded a trade.
I have been looking into it for a few hours and here is what I have found out...
* It appears Kesler would be open to a trade, but in no way has he DEMANDED a trade. (anyone who knows or has been around Ryan Kesler would have a hard time writing that he would DEMAND a trade. not his style.)
* The Canucks want no part of trading Ryan Kesler but also realize that his value is high after his courageous performance. Yet still, they want to trade Kesler as much as they want to (do whatever it is a Vancouverite would hate doing.)
I will add this. It is my experience at least the Canucks fans are completely head over heels for Ryan Kesler. I remember at the Vancouver games, despite him playing for USA, fans telling me they were torn about cheering against a Ryan Kesler team in the gold medal game.
So in the following poll I want to ask CANUCKS fans ONLY... (he said, fully knowing many of you will answer anyway)
