Oilers Giving Up (sorta) + "Boston has a VERY strong offer for Kessel" |

More to come on this one. I am leaving NY on a train. had a great time with everyone. On the way home I will be following up on Kaberle and Tanguay and writing the Heatley story that I promised by today. I will tell you that I first must check with my Edmonton source just to be sure that they are still ok with me telling the story...
Oilers blogger extraordinaire (and former hockeybuzzard) Dan Tencer had an interesting quote today in his
blog today..
Dan writes...
I had a chance to speak with Oilers Assistant GM Kevin Prendergast on a number of issues earlier this morning. I'm on a time crunch, but the quotes are pretty self-explanatory:
On Heatley:
"I think we've given up hope on the Heatley scenario; but, I guess it's not dead in the water. But, at this point, it looks like we'll go to camp with the same team we finished with last year outside of a new goaltender....I think at this point, it's pretty evident what's going to happen. But, we haven't closed the door on the whole issue yet."
they are self-explanatory, if you are...oh, I don't know...a sado-masochist... In all seriousness, I give the Oil all the credit in the world for sticking with this. I honestly would have thrown on the towel long ago...
Also know this: The Oil are talking to the Sens and Flyers about "plan B" trades that aren't too shabby...
As for Kessel...It is becoming apparent that he is not long for Boston..I am told that four teams are seriously working up deals and apparently one is so good that even Chiarelli has shifted his stance from Kessel is staying a Bruin to my personal favorite, "I don't comment on rumors."
Also I am well aware of the updates needed to Cap central and I fully expect to spend a good amount of time this weekend getting it all up to speed. Too many things to do, not enough hours.
Hockeybuzz Job Openings
Along those line...we are looking for a few good men and women who are looking to get into the NHL media biz and don't put a high priority on food or shelter...no seriously we are looking for interns...like yesterday. If you are interested in becoming part of the "biggest independent hockey website in Canada and the U.S. behind NHL.com" (source: comscore) email me at eklund (at) hockeybuzz.com. Put intern in the subject line and tell me about yourself. We are looking for backup team bloggers, researchers, podcast producers, video editors, sales staff, assistants, etc. With nearly 1 million unique visitors in the last 30 days, things are happening quick and often here. We need some people local to the Philly area, but many of the openings you can do from the comfort of your own home...
More updates throughout the day can be found on the RUMOR CHART. Of course, if you buy a HOCKEYBUZZ SEASON TICKET for $20 you will not only support our ever growing server costs but get access to the entire rumor chart. (and we will also stop auto-play videos as our thanks.)
