The Windy City is looking beautiful today in what is pretty much a picture perfect day for a hockey game. Just landed and I will have more about the game after the skates.
I am finalizing the Rumor Chart for publication tonight/tomorrow, but there are plenty of rumors to go around for sure.
We are absolutely going to see some trades leading into and during this year's NHL Draft. Some of the major variety, too.
One that I am chasing would have New York's Rick Nash getting dealt to Detroit for Gustav Nyquist and as many as two other prospects. Also hearing the Minnesota Wild could have interest in Nash. The Rangers do appear to be very interested in moving Nash.
Another would have the Nashville Predators moving a defenseman and a prospect to the Edmonton Oilers for Jordan Eberle.
On the Lightning goalie situation, word is that Ben Bishop really wants to give it a go...
UPDATE:
Tampa head coach Jon Cooper is of course not saying a word, so anything is possible regarding Bishop or forward Jonathan Drouin. However, after watching Bishop in practice, just my opinion, but he doesn’t look like he’s ready to play the Chicago Blackhawks in Game 3 of the Cup Finals.
He may have been just playing it safe, but he was moving very little from side to side obviously uncertain. It was to the point that some in the media were questioning if the Lightning didn't in fact dress up someone else in Bishop's uniform. It was not the case, but he definitely didn't look himself.
Of course, saying all that, he will now likely have the game of his life. Just giving my two cents.
