Now a quarter way through the 2015-16 NHL season we have a pretty good idea of which teams will be good and which teams, well, won't be.

In this edition of the hotstove we predict which team will finish last in the NHL.

Todd Cordell

I'm going to go with the Colorado Avalanche.

They have some talented forwards but their defense is a tire fire and they get outshot - often significantly - on a nightly basis and have done so for years.

Unless that somehow changes they're going to lose a ton of games; especially playing in the NHL's toughest division.

I think it's going to be a long season for them.

James Tanner

This is a tricky question because no matter what you say people will get mad at you. I the Coyotes have a pretty good chance - they don't get good goaltending, and they score on too high a percentage of their shots so far to sustain being a decent scoring team.

They also have the worst roster of centres in the NHL and are dressing two rookies in their top six (good ones, but still..) and a few seriously bad players on the backend.

I hate to say it, but I can't see any team seriously challenging the Coyotes for 30th place this year.
