Coyotes Lose Seventh in a Row

Martin Erat had a goal and an assist after being a healthy scratch before the All-star break, but the Coyotes blew a 2-0 lead and lost in a shoot-out.

The loss, as the title indicates, was the seventh in a row. This is a season high losing streak - but only sort of - since earlier in the season they did lose ten in a row to teams that are not the Oilers, but they broke up the losses with three victories over the only NHL team they can apparently defeat.

Unfortunately, the Coyotes will not be playing the Oilers until - at the very least - next October in what could be the first NHL meeting between Jack Eichal and Connor McDavid.

In the meantime, things don't get much easier because the 0-4 road-trip still has another four games to go.

"I thought we played solid in the third," - Dave Tippett.

You gotta hand it to the guy, he keeps going out there and trying to put some kind of spin on this thing, but every game he just sounds more and more like the CEO of General Motors.

I mean, this thing isn't pretty and it's hard to watch. What can be expected from Tippett after the game when even I don't know what I am I supposed to write about here? Do I take the "hey they gave it a good effort" approach? I hope not, cause I think their effort sucked. Maybe I'm just bitter and I see what I want to see. Who knows?

Maybe I try to take the long-term approach: the draft will be fun. Well it might be, but that doesn't make it any easier to watch a team who lost seven games in a row and whose response was to.........wait for it.......

CALL UP BRENDEN SHINNIMIN

"This five foot eleven Aries loves long walks under the moonlight and scoring at a half a point per game clip in the AHL."

Well intercourse me sideways.

If there is one positive we can take from last night's game it is that it is now over. Also, the Leafs are on the horizon so that at least is a winnable game. I mean, everyone beats the Leafs, right?

Or if the season continues to go as it has, what will happen is that David Clarkson will score five goals.

Thanks for reading.
